Like you, I support the idea of more people being enrolled in a health insurance plan. It will certainly help those who have to live with it everyday. We support your son all the way, Patrick. Take care.

Donnie White @ Good Health Quotes Donnie Whitehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06028382062247137501noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7695054139670388214.post-38472885498979589362015-07-15T22:05:04.816-07:002015-07-15T22:05:04.816-07:00Thanks for the nice comment Kevin. I just started reading your blog beca...Hi Patrick!
I just started reading your blog because of the podcast with Jeff (of which I am looking forward to listening to sessions #2/3/4/5 this evening). I have been dealing with T1D for 43 years (was in 8th grade when diagnosed), and am doing fine. Yes, it takes time to adjust, and the fact that your son is taking responsibility for his own treatment is a very good thing. Folks are concerned that it is *so* much work to think about it all, but believe me, after a while it is just a part of your life. It will become habit for your son, to check his glucose, make sure his pump is good, and that he doesn't eat too much. Yes, I needed to change things a bit 2 years ago, and I am better off for it. And your point about insurance/stable job/time is well taken. I know how much of a change my mom had to make in cooking our meals, I remember helping her plan things. But again, in time everything settled down (and besides, my mom was a great cook). I think you and your son are on the right path, so breathe deeply and keep moving forward. My prayers are with you.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02093913130136784610noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7695054139670388214.post-25045995020122403062015-07-06T13:18:27.592-07:002015-07-06T13:18:27.592-07:00I always enjoy reading both of your blogs and have...I always enjoy reading both of your blogs and have missed them over the last year. Whenever a new article pops up in my RSS feed I am excited for what is to come. Clearly life must come first and so thanks for taking the limited resource of time that you have to share your thoughts and commentary.

Stay happy and healthyAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06914168967401672142noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7695054139670388214.post-46785397125445520842015-07-01T21:51:44.178-07:002015-07-01T21:51:44.178-07:00Thanks Derrick. I'm a huge fan of this blog (it appeals to the side of my personality that pursued that Masters in international political economy) So naturally, I hope you can return to more frequent blogging, but as a person who has abandoned not 1 but 4 blogs, I understand. And I'm a huge fan of this post as well, (it appeals to the part of me that currently works in health behavioral change).

It's very rare to have people talk so openly about the struggles of dealing with a complicated chronic diseases outside the various fora that are set aside for those discussions. The burden on families can be immense and I'm pleased that you decided to share here. So thanks!

And the podcasts have been great so far. (I haven't listened to the 4th one yet, but I will this weekend).Jimhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02640404480235306127noreply@blogger.com
